Philip Marlowe was broadcast on the NBC network from 06-12-47 to 08-05-47 and from 09-26-48 to 09-15-51 on CBS. Gerald Mohr was the radio Marlowe for CBS and his voice became the one most associated with the Marlowe character.
Marlowe was a private detective with a tough, no nonsense attitude when it came to fighting crime. He had no sympathy for the bad guys as reflected his opening statement at the beginning of each episode: “Get this and get it straight.
